When Stephen Sondheim was a teenager, Oscar Hammerstein, who was a neighbor, became his musical mentor and surrogate father. It was from that piece of musical theater history that this show was created by Michael Pizzi.
"An evening with Oscar and Steve" includes many of their most famous and familiar songs, including an 8 minute mashup of songs that are not fully performed but which would be familiar to audiences worldwide. This show includes patter allowing an audience into the worlds of Oscar and Steve, with narrative that will bring their songs to life and offer a unique perspective on how their songs were created.
The musicals included in the show include "Merrily We Roll Along", "Showboat", "Into the Woods", "Follies", "South Pacific", "Oklahoma", "Passion", "Carousel", "The Sound of Music" and many more.
